HALE‘IWA — Following three back-to-back days of superb competition at the Reef Hawaiian Pro last week, the event is now on standby awaiting better surf conditions, set to resume later this week — possibly as early today.
Monday, the swell along the North Shore of O‘ahu, was from a northerly direction which is completely unfavorable for Hale‘iwa’s Ali‘i Beach Park.
A new, moderate northwest swell is slated to arrive today — possibly late in the day.
Contest organizers will continue to assess conditions every morning, with a call made by 7 a.m.
When competition does resume, the men’s division will pick up with round four and the entrance of the top seeds, and the women’s division will resume with quarter finals.
Two full days of competition remain at the Reef Hawaiian Pro.
