Mahalo to Jennifer at JJ’s Broiler … the appetizer platter gets a lot of mileage, especially on football night, and Lanaly Cabalo likes the calamari. Therese Jasper (Jori was Miss Spirit!) said Jennifer is Richard’s sister, and I guess everyone was excited because it was Kaua‘i’s homecoming night.
But lunch at JJ’s is always a blast … Mayor Bill “Kaipo” Asing had some of his staff including Gary Heu and Wally Rezentes wrapping up a week of business, and Thomas Kaiakapu had his off-island people also finishing up the week following a successful Newell’s shearwater release Tuesday.
Upstairs, Lt. Gov. James “Duke” Aiona was a guest at the Rotary Club of Kaua‘i (Laurie Yoshida is with the Kalepa Sunrise Rotary Club) meeting. Bill Harper already has his Thanksgiving turkey Rotary shirt, but said he won’t be here this year since he’ll be at a wedding off-island.
But Capt. Mitham Clement will be at the turkey distribution, and that means the Salvation Army Community Luncheon is right around the corner.
Hats off to Ross Shimabukuro for effectively balancing the state bowling tournament (congratulations to Tiffany Lum on medaling!) and his homecoming. Coach Derek Borrero said he got to take in the school assembly and was impressed with the students’ spirit.
