B.J. Freitas had a hat trick for Kalaheo, but the effort fell short as the Waimea Boogie Nation went on to take the opening round game, Wednesday afternoon at the Kalawai Park.
The American Youth Soccer Organization, Region 940, Under 14 Boys started its playoff round with a single game at the Kalawai Park which was won by the Boogie Nation, 8-4.
Kaina Dusenberry and Micah Quinlan paced the Boogie Nation win with a pair of goals each. Isaac Fierro, Wyatt Taniguchi, Bradley Lumabad and Kailan Caberto helped the victory with a goal apiece.
Joshua Herr added a goal to Freitas’ hat trick for Kalaheo.
With the win, the Boogie Nation hosts the Lihu‘e team coached by Francis Takasaki in a single game, Saturday in Waimea.
That contest kicks off at 12:45 p.m.
