Kalawai Youth Baseball Club holds board meeting
Kalawai Youth Baseball Club will be holding a board meeting at 7 p.m. tonight at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center. Everyone is invited to this meeting as the club members will discuss the upcoming Kalawai baseball season.
Parents, coaches and others who are interested in getting involved, are encouraged to attend this meeting and provide input in planning the new season.
Merv Lopes to head 2-day hoops clinic
Registration for a two-day basketball clinic is now being accepted.
Forms for the clinic are available online at the Team Central Web site at www.teamcentralhoopz.com and players are encouraged to register early to ensure a space in the clinic. Deadline for registration is Oct. 22.
Merv Lopes, former basketball coach for Chaminade University, will be heading the clinic scheduled for Oct. 25 and 26 at the Wilcox Gymnasium at Island School.
Players from seventh through ninth grades will be on the floor from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on both days. Players in grades 10 through 12 will take the floor from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
There is a $30 fee for each player and registration fee includes a clinic T-shirt for the player.
Assisting Lopes in the clinic will be coaches from Island School, Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i and Waimea high schools as well as coaches from the Team Central Basketball program.

Jump, Sprints/Relay coaches needed
Kaua‘i High School track and field team is seeking a jump coach and a sprints/relay coach, said head coach Richard Matsumoto.
