Waimea High School grad and current Detroit Lions linebacker Jordon Dizon is bouncing back from injury incurred in mid-September in the 48-25 loss to the Green Bay Packers and another at practice before the San Franciso game.
Defensive coordinator Joe Barry said yesterday at a post-practice media session that Dizon “kind of hit a bump in the road a little bit…and was inactive because of the injuries. We’ve played three games and he’s missed half of them — he missed the second half of the Green Bay game and the entire San Francisco game. The bye week was good for him. He’s healthy. He’s in good shape.”
Dizon is still currently listed as the backup middle linebacker behind Paris Lenon.
“The thing with backups — and that’s what Jordon is, he’s a backup — you have to feel comfortable as a coach when and if that guy has to go into the game. With any rookie, usually ea rly on, we’re still in the first quarter of the season, I’m getting more and more comfortable with him the more and more comfortable he gets. Like I said, the four or five days he missed with the injury was a little bit of a bump in the road for him but he’s back and he’s practicing and he looks good. Hopefully he just continues to make strides.”
Detroit takes on the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
