Ha‘aheo Kaua‘i, under the direction of coach Bobbie Rapozo, picked up a 6-1 win over Team Onipa‘a BU14, and a 9-0 shutout over Pohaku GU14 Sunday.
Those victories, coupled with a 15-2 win by Team Motiv-8 over the Westside United BU15, put those two teams at the top of the Kaua‘i Soccer Association league with 15 points each.
Both teams sport undefeated records of 5-0-0.
Three other teams are 4-0-0 in the league led by the Westside Falcons BU10 which shut out Pohaku BU10, 2-0 for an undefeated record in that age group.
The loss drops Pohaku to 2-1-0 for 6 points with Team Motiv-8, enjoying a bye in the BU10 division, holding a 1-2-0 record for 3 points.
Kaua‘i Sparks, taking a 3-0 win over the Southside Lunachicks, holds the lead in the GU10 division with a 3-1-0 record for 9 points. The Lunachicks drop to 2-3-0 and 6 points for the runner-up berth in the division.
The KSC-Blazing Angels picked up its first win of the season with a 3-0 showing over Lightning Chix. That victory gives the Angels a 1-2-0 record for 3 points with the Lightning Chix seeking its first win.
Westside Falcons BU12-1 and BU12-2 are tied in the standings with 1-1-1 records and 4 points each when the BU12-1 team dropped a 2-1 contest to the Hawaiian Heat GU12. The Falcon BU12-2 team enjoyed a bye, Sunday.
The KSC-Blazing Angels won both ends of its double-header without allowing a single goal. In its first matchup, the Angels took a 4-0 win over Lokahi and followed that with a 5-0 shutout over Lokahi in the nightcap.
The dual wins give the Angels an undefeated record at 4-0-0 and 12 points in the GU12 division. Lokahi, playing in the GU11 division is 0-3-1 for a point, and Hawaiian Heat finishes at 1-2-1 for 4 points in the GU12 division.
Team Onipa‘a split its Sunday series, dropping 6-1 to Ha‘aheo Kaua‘i before rebounding with a 4-3 win over the Westside Falcons BU14 in the nightcap.
The Onipa‘a win was its second in the season and improves the team to 2-3-0 for 6 points below the GIFC, a 6-0 winner over Hawaiian Heat.
That win gives GIFC a 4-0-0 record and a dozen points to lead the BU14 division with the Falcons BU14 rounding out the class at 1-3-0 for 3 points.
With the loss, Hawaiian Heat (0-4-0) and Pohaku (0-2-0) are still seeking its first season win.
Lokahi, 0-3-1 for a point, enjoyed a bye in the GU18 class.
Games continue Sunday and the public is invited to view the competition in a family atmosphere at the North Vidinha soccer fields.
