The following individuals recently launched a business, were appointed to a leadership position or honored for their work in the business community:
• Lynn (Okamoto) Campbell was named Des Moines bureau chief for IowaPolitics.com
She replaced Chris Dorsey and started Sept. 8. Campbell, 36, is a 1990 graduate of Waimea High School who has 17 years experience in journalism. Most recently, she worked for The Des Moines Register for the past 10 years, where her beats included education, the state Legislature, politics, Ames, Iowa State University, human services and night police reporting.
Prior to that, Campbell worked for Lee Enterprises for five years. She started as a television producer, assignment editor and reporter for KGMB-TV in Honolulu. She moved to Iowa on Thanksgiving Day 1996 to be the police, courts and city hall reporter for The Ottumwa Courier. From there, she went on to cover the Legislature and state government for the Lee Enterprises Des Moines bureau.
Campbell is a 1994 graduate of the University of Hawai‘i, Manoa, where she was a print journalism major. She also attended the University of Missouri, Columbia.
