Let’s just call last week’s first run of the Football Frenzy a test run. I got half of my NFL picks wrong — it was ridiculous.
But I would like to say that I think everyone knows by now that San Diego should have won that football game. Even lead official Ed Hochuli has admitted to it and apologized to Chargers head coach Norv Turner and the fans for blowing that fumble call at the end of the game.
I don’t even know what I was thinking in picking New Orleans over Washington (Come on, Jeremy Shockey! I traded away Marvin Harrison for you.)
Furthermore, I will admit that my pick of Hawai‘i over Oregon State was the result of my being a homer. I believed the Warriors had a chance and that was my problem. I of all people should have remembered that the whole point of the Football Frenzy is to predict who WILL win the game, not who we WANT to win the game. Oh, well.
I would like to welcome Anahola’s Mark Lapilio, who joins us on the panel this week. Lapilio turned in his ballot early and was randomly selected to be first guest panelist of the year. Lapilio won a $25 gift certificate to Riptydz, a restaurant and bar in Lihu‘e. He also has a chance to win again this week if his picks beat ours.
Congratulations to him and good luck to all who are playing this week.
