Vincent Baloran marked three touchdowns and Shea Shimabukuro was 4-for-5 in point-after kicks as the Kaua‘i JV posted a 41-0 win over Hilo Saturday.
A punt return by Vincent opened the second quarter, and Shimabukuro would have finished a perfect 5-for-5 except the Red Raiders were tagged with an unsportsmanship (celebration) penalty following the long scoring run.
Vincent went on to score three of the JV Raiders’ four second-quarter TDs, and would’ve made two straight punt return scores except that his second punt return to the end zone was called back on a blocking penalty.
But quarterback Anderson Baloran salvaged that error on a long keeper play to the Vikings’ 12-yard line and Vincent got the TD at the 6:25 mark.
Earlier in the afternoon, Anderson chalked up his own TD on a keeper touchdown in the first quarter to cap Kaua‘i’s first possession.
Travis Koga followed with a 10-yard charge up the middle to cap a drive generated when Brennan Wortman recovered a Hilo fumble on the kickoff return following Anderson’s score.
John Das scored the Raiders’ final TD in the second quarter on a 24-yard run, that drive fueled by a face mask penalty against the Vikings.
Kalen Kimura did the point-after boot following Das’ end zone run.
