According to the National Weather Service, Mana Raceway Park may be set weatherwise for drag racing this weekend.
Following last month’s rain-out, the Garden Island Racing Association will present the “NHRA King of the Track” drag racing series this weekend at the Kaua‘i Raceway Park featuring fire-breathing, blown alcohol dragsters, daily drivers, motorcycles and Junior Dragsters.
Spectators are invited from noon Saturday, and from noon Sunday to the two-day spectacular.
Racer gates open from 11 a.m. on both days with time trials starting at 2 p.m. Racing action begins from 7:30 p.m.
Admission is $12 per person with children 12 and under free.
According to a release from the GIRA, this weekend’s races are tailgate style which means people are asked to bring their own chairs and umbrellas for exciting racing under the stars. It is an alcohol-free family event.
Classes to be featured at this weekend’s series include Pro ET, Sport Compact, Muscle V8, Motorcycles, Jr. Dragster and Street Legal.
A banner on the ocean-side of the highway past Kekaha will announce the entrance to the raceway park.
