It was kind of strange not seeing Ben Bragman in the black-and-white stripes, but Ben said he’ll still be with football — maybe helping JK out with some color on the tapes.
Football is back in full swing and Lenny Rapozo (he’s the president of the Kaua‘i referee association) was doing white hat duty. Kelvin Moniz was waiting from the afternoon when he thanked Karen Ono for the Kaua‘i Board of Realtors contribution to the Kaua‘i Food Bank.
Gregg Gonsalves was making sure the new press box was accomodating all the members of the media and Dave Allio got to shoot some of the Outer Island teams before he heads off for the Mainland.
Coach Kara Kitamura wasn’t going to miss this, and Kamalani Brun (she had a perfect meet at the last Fun Meet) was with mom Nalani as they checked out the food booth.
Coach Todd Fuerte had his equipment out for the game and coach Gordan Muramaru had some pretty neat baseball caps on sale.
Of course, the Kaua‘i team was also in the house and Ralph Suniga can’t wait to put on the red shirt. Trent Shimabukuro said his early departure is like trying to beat the traffic out of Aloha Stadium, but he did have time to greet Bernard Carvalho who was out with Jay Furfaro earlier with a bunch of sign wavers.
Kevin and Yukie DeSilva must’ve convinced Dustin that it was OK to do the game. Yukie said Bonnie Ellamar from Higashi’s is now going to open Friday nights — mmm, cheeseburgers to go on Kapa‘a home games.
