Thomas “Blackie” Arai of Hilo died Aug. 18, 2008, at Hilo Medical Center at the age of 69. Born on the Big Island he was retired as co-owner of the Paramount Grill.
He is survived by wife Susan Arai, son Geoffrey Arai, daughters Rochelle Arai and Pamela (Chris Fujiuchi) Arai, brothers Herbert (Setsuko) Arai and George Arai, sisters Tsuruko Daimaru and Evelyn (Hiroshi) Inouye, and one grandson.
Memorial service to be held with visitation beginning at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, at Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home; service at 5 p.m.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home.
