A wide variety of ocean activity remains on tap at the 10th annual Ho‘onua o ke Kai Ocean Fest, which opened yesterday with a full slate of competition at PK’s and Shipwreck’s.
At PK’s, surfers charged the solid 2- to 4-foot surf while organizers said similar action was taking place at Shipwreck’s for bodyboarders and bodysurfers.
The heat winners and event winners won’t be announced until the awards banquet following the event, according to Kaua‘i Surf Association organizers.
Today the adults get to show their stuff as the 18 and Over Longboard competition opens the PK action starting at 8 a.m.
Other events include the Open Men, 50 and Over Legends, 40-49 Masters, Wahine 18-24, Stand-up Paddle, Longboard Repo and Wahine 35-Plus
The Ho‘onua o ke Kai had a solid crowd yesterday watching the action, including shortboard, longboard, stand-up paddle, a rough water swim, the paddleboard race, stand-up races, bodyboards, bodysurfing and a keiki push-in.
