David Conrad
David Conrad of Lihu‘e died Aug. 2, 2008, at Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood, Ky., at the age of 53. Born March 31, 1955, in Kentucky, he was a chorus and piano teacher at Kaua‘i High School.
He is survived by parents Louis and Geneva Conrad, and brothers Paul Conrad and Monte Conrad.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church with a reception to follow.
Solomon Fu
Solomon K. Fu Sr. of Kekaha died April 16, 2008, in Waimea at the age of 71. Born Aug. 10, 1936, in Hanalei, he was a self-employed wood carver.
He was preceded in death by wife Vernica Kalani Fu, daughter Stella Ortiz, son Hilarrion Kalani, mother Mary Makue Fu and sister Agnes Fuchigama.
He is survived by sons David H. (Malia) Fu, Solomon K. Fu, Samuel K. (Tanya) Fu, James H. Kalani, Leonard Kalani, Mathew Z. Kalani, Anthony Kalani, Solomon Fu Kalani, Ben Kalani Pa‘aluhi, Adrian Kalani, Hermin Kalani, Sammie Kalani, Eddie H. Kalani, Mano Kalani, Solomen Kalani, Samuel H. Kalani, Raymond (Perlita) Kalani, Victor K. Kalani, David D. Kalani and Pumai Kuhio Kaliloa; daughters Healani (Mark) Fu of Honolulu, Haunani Fu, Leiolani (Jake) Velasco, Ida (Stanley) Miguel, Angela Kalani, Jasmine Kalani, Jaime (Elmo) Tafoya, Rebbeca Kalani, Heraldine Kalani, Loke Kalani, Bernice Kalani and Sweetheart Kalani; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; father Charles K.C. Fu Sr.; brothers Charles Fu Jr. of Waimea, Douglas Fu of Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i, and Calvin Fu of Hanapepe; sisters Lydia (Lionel) Kaohi of ‘Ele‘ele and Thelma (Damascio Jr.) Ruiz of ‘Oma‘o.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, at Salt Pond Beach Park. Inurnment to follow at Kealia cemetery.

Pat Hallahan of Lawa‘i died July 4, 2008, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 60. He was born June 7, 1948, in Orange, Calif.
He is survived by fiancee and best friend Mary Brown; daughter Elyse; grandchild Bradley “Buzz”; sister Colleen Jean Phillips of Surprise, Ariz.; and his closest companion, “Bubba.” Services are private.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary Ltd.
Jerry Walto
Jerry Lee Walto of Hanapepe died July 16, 2008, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital. Born July 26, 1951, in Santa Ana, Calif., he served in the Army and was a machinist by trade.
He was preceded in death by parents Harry and Margaret, and brother Bobby.
Walto is survived by sons Jerry Lee (Heather) of Moonpark, Calif., Christopher and Jeffery of Holland, Mich.; brothers Remie (Laura) of Simi, Calif., and John (Cookie) of Kalaheo; sisters Jennie (Roxie) Laurita of Grand Junction, Colo., and Julie Reiss of Ventura, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe with military honors from 11:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the Walto family with arrangements.
