The Mililani All-Star Protect Our Nation’s Youth baseball team dropped one yesterday, but still has a chance to advance to the championship game.
Victoria California’s pitcher whiffed 10 Mililani batters with a fast ball in the high 80-mph range in its 6-1 win.
According to Kirk Correa, father of Mililani player Dallas Correa, Mililani All-Stars will face Victoria today starting at 3:30 p.m. HST.
Mililani picked up its only run in the sixth inning after facing a 6-0 deficit.
Travis Shaw topped the Mililani bats with a 1-3 showing with a double. Soobin Kang was 2-4, Jake Baptisa ended 1-3 and Micah Kitaoka was 1-2 as Mililani finished with one run on five hits.
Victoria opened with two runs in the third and added another four in the fifth inning, finishing with six runs on six hits.
Ryan Layron had a perfect 2-2 showing with two RBIs for Victoria and Channin Berela finished 1-3.
“It’s loser out, winner advance to the championship game,” Correa said in an e-mail with the results.
