Mililani All-Stars 14, Bellingham 4, 5 innings FULLERTON, Calif. — Hanapepe’s Dallas Correa went 1-for-2 with two walks, an RBI and two runs scored in Mililani All-Stars’ 14-4 win over Bellingham in the PONY baseball regional tournament in California. The 14-year-old catcher, who attends Saint Louis School on O‘ahu, is the lone Kaua‘i player on the team.
Mililani beat the team from Washington state in five innings due to the mercy rule.
Mililani’s bats got hot, getting 12 hits, while Jake Baptista and Lawrance Paas combine for a four-hitter. Leading the way for Mililani were Paas 3-for-3, Baptista 3-for-4 and Soobin Kang 2-for-4.
Mililani plays against Victoria, California at 11:30 a.m. Hawai‘i time. The regionals conclude on Wednesday. If Mililani advances, they will compete in the semifinals in Pennsylvania.
• Notes: Head coach Lincoln Shibao is also from Kaua‘i. Shibao lived in Wailua and is a 1957 Kapa‘a High School graduate.
