KAPA‘A — Joni Esaki bopped into a soft pitch and what turned out to be a routine play ended with a three-run homer, yesterday afternoon.
Esaki, playing for the Eastside 14 and Under Junior Olympic program, capped a seven-run fourth inning with the single that coupled with Team Central miscues for the base-rounding escapade at the New Kapa‘a Ball Park.
Red Scovel got the duty of courtesy running for catcher Melia Aki and scored once in the contest before replacing Naja Pungan at second base and executing a smart play to Cascade Mayer at first base on a Tyler Marshall hit in the fifth inning.
