Lt. Larry Groenleer said tickets for the upcoming lu‘au featuring the Kaleo Club International are now on sale at the Hanapepe Corps. Russ Talvi (Paige Talvi has a blog about her Alaska experience) said he will be in Alaska when the event unfolds Aug. 2, but Gaylord’s will be catering the food despite his absence.
Ron Wiley had an opportunity to enjoy being on the other side of the microphone as Capt. Mitham Clement did the honors, and Mary McFarland held down the mahalo luncheon while the Lihu‘e Lutheran Church volunteers coordinated the weekly Thursday lunch across the street.
Ralph Suniga was in attendance and is already looking ahead to the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau Fair (Roy Oyama said he’s just going to give orders this year) and the upcoming Kaua‘i High School football season (first pre-season game against Hilo, Aug. 23).
Mahalo to Jennifer Sifuentes for the “corn cup” that will take care of the daily coffee-in-the-car. She said the traveler’s cup is made of corn products and is bio-degradable (not dishwasher safe). In fact, Kenny Ishii of Ono Family Restaurant is interested in the “corn cup,” and Jennifer said it can be imprinted with logos, too.
