KOLOA — A 69-year-old scuba diving student from Hugo, Minn., was rescued following a group lesson late yesterday morning near Koloa Landing.
The woman was diving with a group organized by Aquatic Adventures Inc., at Koloa Landing, according to the Kauai Fire Department.
Emergency dispatch was called around 9:45 a.m. after the woman had been brought to shore by the diving instructor.
Po‘ipu lifeguards already in the area searching for a missing kayaker were able to respond to the call, along with responders from Lihu‘e fire station. After conducting CPR on the woman, emergency personnel took her to Wilcox Hospital, where she remained in critical condition, county officials said.
