The mother of a Portland man who went missing more than two years ago while visiting Kaua‘i has asked residents to remember her son on his birthday later this month.
The third annual “Day of Prayer for Daniel Marks” will coincide with his 26th birthday on March 13.
“Despite many searches by family and friends and professional and volunteer groups, there is still no evidence of Daniel’s fate,” his mother, Patricia Marks, said in an e-mail this week. “People of all faiths and beliefs are asked to pray for Daniel and remember him in a special way.”
Marks arrived for a weeklong visit to the Garden Isle on Nov. 9, 2005. His sister reported him missing on Nov. 22, 2005. He reportedly has not been seen since Nov. 10, 2005.
The Kaua‘i Police Department remains receptive to any leads, Assistant Chief Roy Asher said Friday.
“We have exhausted all possibilities and followed all available leads,” he said. “The investigation remains pending and will be so until we can bring it to an acceptable conclusion.”
Marks, who is of Caucasian descent, is 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 130 to 140 pounds, and has brown eyes and hair and a beard. He has small tattoos above his temples that are barely visible.
Anyone with information about Marks is urged to call Police Dispatch at 241-1711, KPD’s Investigative Services Bureau at 241-1696, or Crime Stoppers at 241-1887.
