LIHU‘E — A 25-year old Lihu‘e male suffered a fractured leg and hip after he was struck riding his moped Wednesday by two visitors in a rental car.
Police dispatch was called at 8:12 p.m. following the accident, which occurred at Haleko Road and Nawiliwili Junction.
Police said the operator of the moped was cited for lacking a driver’s license. He was transported to Wilcox Hospital where he was seen by an orthopedic specialist.
Police said the driver of the sedan claimed to not have seen the moped.
The status of the 25-year-old’s medical condition was not known at press time.
