Iris M. Hernandez
Iris M. Hernandez of Lawa‘i died Feb. 20, 2008, at North Shore Long Island University Hospital in New York, at the age of 56. She was born Iris M. Chong in Lihu‘e.
She was preceded in death by son Theodore A. “Teddy” Daligdig IV.
She is survived by husband Angel L. Hernandez; mother Margaret Duncan; sister Sandra Kaui; brothers Lloyd, Walter and Alvin Chong; Tracy and Terry Daligdig; step-daughters Natasha (Daniel) Freitas and Nalinda; step-son Austin Hernandez; caretakers Miriam and Fidel; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, companions.
Private services will be held.
Caroline K. Hoopii
Caroline K. Hoopii of Kekaha passed away at her home on Feb. 16, 2008, at the age of 72. Born on June 12 1935, in Hana, she was a tour guide with Grayline Kauai.
She was preceded in death by a brother Moses Paio and a sister Katherine Achuara.
She is survived by her husband Alberto “Sonny” Hoopii Sr.; sons Duke (Rene) Hoopii of Maui and Alberto Hoopii Jr. of Kekaha; daughters Lani (Kim) Stone of Belfair, Wash., Mamo Shimatsu of Kekaha, Camille (David) Hesapene of Hanapepe and Norma Hoopii of Waimea; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers Solomon (Kathleen) Paio Jr. of Pahoa, Hawai‘i, Russell (Tonya) Paio of Kona, Hawaii, Melvin (Myra) Paio of Waimea, Hawai‘i, George Paio and Paul Kealoha Jr., of Hilo; sisters Pauline Gouveia of Ocean View, Hawai‘i, and Lucy Ordenstein of Honolulu; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins; sister-in-law, Mary Paio of Waimea, Hawai‘i.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 1 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kekaha. Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Casual attire is suggested.

Mercedes Yoro Serra Fabro
Farewell to Mama Fabro. Mercedes Yoro Serra Fabro died Feb. 14, 2008, at Garden Isle Health Care at the age of 97. She was born in Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Sept. 24, 1910, and retired as a teacher for adult education for citizenship on the island of Maui. She was a former president of the Filipino Catholic Club, co-owner of restaurants in Maui and Honolulu, and was owner of Fabro Care Home in Hanama‘ulu.
She is survived by her son, Danny Serra of Lihu‘e; daughter Mildred (Mike) Jakubec of Virginia Beach, Va.; brothers Paul Yoro of Mililani, Alejandro Yoro of Honolulu, David (Marty) Yoro of Tennessee; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A “Farwell to Mama Fabro” celebration will be held on March 8 at Immaculate Conception Church. Visitation with the family will begin and 8 a.m. and mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
The family requests aloha attire.

Sherwin Aichi Sasaki
Sherwin Aichi Sasaki of Lihu‘e passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Feb. 17, 2008, at the age of 49. Born in Lihu‘e on May 18, 1958, he was a truck driver with Lihu‘e Plantation.
He is survived by parents Hideo and Michie Sasaki of Lihu‘e, brother Stafford Sasaki of Hanama‘ulu, and sister Sheilah (Stephen) Thomas of Wailua Homesteads; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Lihue Baptist Church. The service will be officiated by Rev. George Maeda at 4:30 p.m. Casual/aloha attire is suggested and the family asks that flowers be omitted.

Rodetta K.T. Siliado of Hanapepe died at her home Feb. 17, 2008, at the age of 54. Born on O‘ahu on July 15, 1953, she was a financial expert with Peyton’s Plumbing.
She is survived by her husband, Peyton; sons Reyton Siliado of Japan, Peyton D. Siliado II of Kekaha, and Winston “Lokahi” Siliado of Hanapepe; daughters Pamela Siliado of Hanapepe and Erica Hernandez of ‘Ele‘ele; seven grandchildren; brothers George Tai of Waianae, O‘ahu, Alfred Tai and Clifford Tai, both of California; sister Rowena Tai of Waianae, O‘ahu; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 29, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Service will be at 10 a.m. Aloha attire is suggested.

Celedonia Eugenia Sagisi Galiza
Celedonia Eugenia Sagisi Galiza, former resident of Kaua‘i for 12 years and of Las Vegas, died peacefully on Feb. 16, 2008, in her hometown in the Philippines, at the age of 81. Born on Oct. 13, 1926, in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Agustin Oan‘a Galiza; parents Quintin and Bernabella Sagisi; and sister Vicky Sagisi Hernandez.
She was survived by son Delfin Galiza; daughters Teresita (Rudy) Tungpalan, Beatrice (Aurelio) Bargamento, Jesusa (Daniel) Acoba, Benita (Romy) Omolan, Lilia “Elsie” (Andy) Edra, all of the Philippines, and Constantcia “Connie” (Roger) Andres of Las Vegas; brother Justo (Evarista) Sagisi; sisters Josephine (Peter) Gascon of the Philippines, and Dominga Alcaraz, Cresencia “Carlina” Acojido, Elisa (Escolastico) Adaoag, all of Puhi; grandson and caregiver Lucky Tristian Andres of Puhi; Auntie Carmen “Paula” Cadiente of Waipahu; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren of the Philippines; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews of Kaua‘i, O‘ahu, Maui, California, Maryland and the Philippines.
Funeral services will be held on Feb. 25 at Bacarra Catholic Church in the Philippines. Burial will follow at Bacarra Cemetary where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband.
