Waimea High School Parent, Teacher & Student Association relaunches program
PTSA president Theresa Koki said Waimea High School’s PTSA’s immediate focus is to participate in two fund-raisers — Waimea Town Celebration this weekend and the WHS Alumni and Friends Foundation (WAFF) carnival Feb. 29 and March 1. The moneys raised from these two fund-raisers will help pay for events, such as the third quarter ice cream social for honor roll students and the year-end recognition program in May.
“Once we get this year’s events taken care of, we are going to look into where we would like our future efforts to be focused,” Koki said.
She went on to say that if they were able to continue with fund-raising efforts, next year PTSA members were hoping to have resources available to offer Waimea High School teachers support for little things that they have on their wish list.
Volunteer help for the Waimea Town Celebration and WHS WAFF Carnival fundraisers is still being sought. Interested volunteers may reach vice president Dan Abadilla at dan.abadilla@hotmail.com.
The Waimea High School’s PTSA program meets on the first Monday of every month.
The next monthly PTSA meeting will be on March 3 6:30 p.m. n 8 p.m. in Ms. Cuizon’s classroom, which is mauka of the school gym.
Everyone is welcomed — just show up at a meeting to get involved.
If you’re a parent, grandparent, student or community member, and want to give a helping hand to Waimea High School’s PTSA, please send an e-mail to WaimeaPTSA@gmail.com.
A special mahalo goes out to Meadow Gold and Lappert’s ice cream for their help and support of Waimea High School’s honor roll ice cream socials.
Their donations allowed us to keep a few more dollars in our PTSA treasury to work towards our goal to have funds for our teachers’ wish list.
