Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative has confirmed the candidates for its board of directors election on March 22.
Members who submitted petitions and will be on the ballot are: Thomas Ellis, Ken Stokes and Ben Sullivan.
Dennis Esaki, Teofilo Phil Tacbian and Peter Yukimura were nominated by the KIUC Nominating Committee in early January.
A director is one of nine elected representatives of the members of KIUC who collectively constitute the board of directors. The board of directors governs the business and affairs of KIUC but is generally concerned with the broad courses of action to be followed by the utility. The board is not involved in the day-to-day operations of the utility. A director’s term lasts three years, and are staggered so that three seats come up for election each year.
Members will receive ballots in the mail in late February.
The Garden Island will host a KIUC candidates forum at the War Memorial Convention Hall on Feb. 28.
