Aurellano Alcantarra Agbulos
Aurellano Alcantarra Agbulos of Kekaha died at KVMH on Feb. 2, 2008, at the age of 98. He was born June 16, 1909, in the town of Santiago, Ilocos Sur, the Philippines.
Agbulos immigrated to Hawai‘i in 1927 and settled in Lawa‘i to work for the Koloa Sugar Plantation. He eventually relocated to Kekaha and worked with for the Kekaha Sugar Plantation. In 1955, he returned to the Philippines, met and married Consolita Bautista, brought her home to Kekaha and started their family. He retired from the Kekaha Sugar Plantation in 1974 as a cane unloader.
He was preceded in death by parents Saturnino and Gavina Alcantarra Agbulos, brother Cresencio and sisters Agrafina and Josefa.
He is survived by his loving wife, Consolita Bautista; daughters Avelina Maruyama, Doris Agbulos and Nely (Danilo) Caberto, all of Kekaha; grandchildren Telissa Agbulos, Nekicia Maruyama and Keane Caberto; great-granddaughter Jordyn Maruyama-Chang Wo; sister Merced Pascua of Candon, the Philippines; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kekaha. Services will commence at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Kekaha Public Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
George Franklin Koch
George Franklin Koch died Feb. 3, 2008, at his home in Lihu‘e at the age of 81. Born July 20, 1926, in Pennsylvania, he was an aircraft mechanic inspector.
He was preceded in death by his son Gary Koch.
He is survived by his daughter Nancy (Randy) Harker of Koloa; son Eric (Karen) Koch of California; brother Carl (Nancy) Koch of Delaware; sister Janet (Tom) Mills of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Private services were held.
