The Kapa‘a Warriors placed its goalkeeper, Parker Blaylock, and four of its players on the all-tournament team after falling to the Mid-Pacific Owls, 1-0 in a shootout Saturday night.
Playing in the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association’s boys state soccer championship, the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation champions moved through the ranks by posting wins over McKinley, 8-0, Kahuku, 3-0, and Honoka‘a, 2-1 before dropping to the Owls.
Honoka‘a had earlier edged out the Kaua‘i Red Raiders 1-0 in a shootout Friday after resuming a contest which was called on account of safety factors and inclement weather at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park and Stadium.
Ian Lactaotao, Chance Bukoski who played in the championship game with an injury, Ikaika Fuerte and Joe Velasco joined Blaylock in the Division II All-Tournament Team.
Josiah Motosue, the versatile midfielder/forward for Kaua‘i High School, also made the All-Tournament team bringing the number of Garden Island players to six of the dozen available slots.
Mid-Pacific, which earned the state championship with its win over Kapa‘a, placed six players, including the tourney Most Outstanding Player Adam Bailey, with Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i placing one player to round out the All-Tournament team.
Cody Sullivan, Kennedy Spencer, Jared Doingo, Marc Obundo and Brandt Kuioka were the Mid-Pacific players and Cameron Castillo rounded out the team from Kam Schools-Hawai‘i.
The Red Raiders opened with a 4-2 win over Christian Liberty before being nipped by the Honoka‘a Dragons in the quarterfinals.
Playing in the consolation bracket, Kaua‘i edged Kahuku 1-0 before losing to Seabury Hall 4-3 in the finals of that bracket Saturday.
Division I All-Tournament Team members include Most Outstanding Player Zane Dydasco, and goalkeeper Micah Swain from Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama.
Kimo Komomua, Ryan Ho and Kainoa Kahui round out the KS-Kapalama selections. Colin Lund and Michael Anduha were selected from the Mililani Trojans.
Nicholas Goo, Brock Granger, Kevin Fung and Nicholas Metzker of Iolani round out the Division I selections.
