Calvin Paleka was able to give basketball fans updates on the HHSAA Division II soccer championships as he took care of the KIF games while Gregg Gonsalves was with the Kapa‘a boys soccer team on O‘ahu.
Good job to coaches Kevin Cram and Todd Fuerte who got the boys to the finals where they dropped to Midpac in a shootout which ended after the Saturday night hoops match in Kapa‘a.
Kudos to coach Mark Brandeburg and Dennis Chan for getting the Kaua‘i team to the quarterfinals where the Raiders battled weather before dropping to Honoka‘a in another shootout.
Now that the KIF games are out of the way, the KSA programs should be starting shortly since coach Kevin Devitt and Karl Ubongen are able to breathe again.
Annette Hashimoto had a new word, but when you’re from Kalaheo, it’s easy to forget it — especially if the game is a tight one like it was Saturday night.
Annette said she was with the Kapa‘a Middle School group that enjoyed Groundhog Job Shadow Day at the Kaua‘i Hilton, and even learned some things about the hotel … wait until you try the Christmas buffet!
