OK, so if you missed the Souper Bowl Sunday event, you missed out on a good thing … missed Kelvin Moniz since tennis with the Gustavus College was a victim of rain delay.
But Judy Lenthall was there to help Susan Pittman with the Roasted Tomato Fennel bisque, and Dr. Becky Rhoades had her orange shirt on like last year. Ron and Laura Wiley could not miss the event.
But the biggest winner was Saige McDaniel of Sitka, Alaska, who got to sample the soup in her very first bowl she made last week with Susan.
Saige is one half of twins. Bree is her sister and they were all enjoying the outing with grandma Dorothy Breedlove who spends part of her year on Kaua‘i.
Mike Curtis was enjoying the soup so brother Paul couldn’t resist. He came to get some for himself and Millie.
Over on the South Shore, hats off to Tom Edlefsen and the Kiahuna Swim & Tennis ‘ohana on another great goodwill tennis series. Tom said the weather was nice and clear when he arrived at 6:30, Sunday morning, but by 8:30, showers slowed the mini tournament, and a broken irrigation head only added to the showers. But, it was well done and everyone had fun.
Jonathan Tom came after being invited by Glenn Ikemoto (he was full-on at the recent Doubles tourney, too).
Sue Boynton said Limahuli Garden will be dedicating a native forest (not garden) in memory of Dave Boynton on Feb. 10. Sue was with the Kilauea Lighthouse people who welcomed U.S. Representative Mazie Hirono, Monday.
John White and Josh Wisch are celebrating their second week on Hirono’s staff and were fully engrossed with their duties. Good job, guys!
