Tim Lach had the right idea — ride your Harley-Davidson motorcycle to the Career Day. He rumbled up to ‘Ele‘ele School and got to park his ride just outside the door to entice the students. Hats off to Misty Tsukayama

Hats off to Misty Tsukayama on another successful event! Stan Morinaka had his first experience with the ‘Ele‘ele School event, but his Kaua‘i Veterans Express driver Palani Camacho had it well under control, complete with boxes of goodie bags for the students, and Romel Begonia is an old hand at career days … expect the unexpected, he said. Now, why do chefs wear white?
It was a good thing Richard Jasper (Therese was serving up beef stew and chicken salad) was at the basketball game Friday night. A fan wanted to know where he could see the Seniors game (go, Jordon Dizon!), and Rich had the answer.
And despite the traffic backlog following Saturday’s accident, Anahola Joel Pahukula made it to the Raiderdome in time (thank heaven for that emergency by-pass road!). The swimmers and paddlers were still stuck in the traffic because the buses couldn’t use the road, Kaua‘i High School coach Lori Parraga said.
Pat Baniaga did a great job opening the 40th season for the Kaua‘i Senior Softball League, and JoAnn Yukimura even made it to that event before heading to KCC to speak to the college leaders (hats off to John Contantino and his crew for that deal!). Alan Smith was playing for ‘Ohana, and John Ochoco and Stephen Fujii now wear Kawaihau uniforms. It’s hard to keep track of who wears what, but the main thing is everyone has fun!
