According to a preliminary report, a Ford Mustang was parked on the shoulder of Kuhio Highway about a half mile from mile marker 15 when the driver of the northbound SUV struck the car and flipped.
The accident caused police to close the road, which caused traffic delays.
County officials said in a prepared statement that Kaui, a passenger in a Jeep Cherokee, allegedly assaulted the male visitor from New York who had been driving the rented Ford Mustang.
No one was injured in the car accident.
Six victims, including two women, two men and two children were taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital and were treated and released.
Police are continuing their investigation of the accident.
