Friday is the deadline for mail in applications for the Hawai‘i Surfing Federation/YMCA Kaua‘i Contest No. 3 scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at Intersections/First Ditch in Kekaha. Surfers wanting to compete in this Contest No. 3 must be HSF members.
Friday is the deadline for mail in applications for the Hawai‘i Surfing Federation/YMCA Kaua‘i Contest No. 3 scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at Intersections/First Ditch in Kekaha.

Application forms are available by visiting the HSF Kaua‘i Web site at www.hsfkauai.com.
Surfing will start at 7:30 a.m. for all competitors in the meet which will feature 6-man heats with preliminary heats running 15 minutes with the best 2 waves on a 6-wave maximum.
The finals will be run on 15-minute heats with the best 2 waves of an 8-wave maximum.
Divisions include Menehune (11 and Under), Boys 12-14, Junior Men 15-17, Open Men 18-24, and Girls 17 and Under. Body Board divisions include Boys Body Board 14 and Under, Jr. Body Board 15-17, and Women 18 and Over.
Registration for HSF members is $20 for mail-in entries. There is a $10 additional fee for each additional division for mail-in entries.
Beach entry fees will be $30 plus $15 for each additional division, if slots are available.
HSF membership dues are $50.
Jesse Gugliamana earned the SurfCo Surfer Award at the HSF Contest No. 2 which was held at Pine Trees in Hanalei in late November.
Alex Smith was a double winner in that event, capturing top slots in the Junior Men 15-17 as well as the Open Men division. He was joined by Nage Melamed who also topped two divisions, the Girls 17 and Under as well as the Women 18 and Over.
Mathew Holzman topped the Boys Body Board division with Travis Smith taking the Junior Body Board.
Dorian Blanchard was tops in the Menehune 11 and Under, Kaimana Jaquias took the top slot in the Boys 12-14, and Makana Munoz was tops in the Long Board competition.
