KAPA‘A — Austin Taylor played both sides of the puck for the Devils, netting 6 goals in Friday night’s 15-4 victory over Imua before switching roles to anchor the defense against the Todd Mayer Green team yesterday at the Kapa‘a inline skating facility.
The Midget “B” squad came up with two big second-half goals Friday, but fell when Keala Davis netted a key goal for the Midget “A” team which took a 3-2 edge out of the arena.
Both squads waged a defensive struggle on the concrete with the “B” team finally breaking the goalmouth at the 2-minute mark of the first half when Zeb Leech-Kritchman found the net.
With 25 ticks remaining in the half, Davis upped the ante with the first of his two goals on the night, the second coming midway in the second half on an assist from Zachery Rodriguez to ice the victory.
Bruce Perdue opened the scorebooks for the “A” team in the second half followed by Kirsten McCracken finding the net at the 6:38 mark on an assist from Ikaika Fuertes.
“A” team goalkeeper Jaime Pablo was a perfect 9-9 in the first half en route to a 23-25 overall finish.
Greg Balmores, goaltending for the “B” team, finished 10-17.
Taylor got the Devils off to a roaring start in the Bantam division contest, scoring the first five goals for the redshirts. Taylor finished the 15-4 affair with six of the team’s goals, two coming on assists from Cydney Sitzler and Matthias Davis.
Sitzler finished the night with a goal of his own, that net coming at the 15:48 mark of the second half, but had three key assists, one to Taylor, another to Jacob Lewis at the 1:34 mark in the first half, and the final one going to Natalie Lewis in the second half.
Jacob Lewis followed Taylor in the scoring department, finishing with five goals and an assist to Taylor in the first half.
Kawaiike Punua paced the Imua scoring with two goals, one in the first half and the other coming at the 8:47 mark in the second half.
Kawai Peahu, finishing with a goal and an assist, and Marissa Aceret rounded out the scoring efforts for Imua. Marcus Punua added an assist in the effort.
The Devils, roaring out to a 7-1 halftime lead over the Mayer Green team yesterday, get the Friday night bye, taking to the court on Sunday against Chris Wingerberg’s team starting at 2:30 p.m.
Wingerberg will go up against the Mayer Green team Friday night starting at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Midget teams squaring off starting at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday action opens with the Squirt division matchups at 1:30 p.m.
There is no admission charge to watch the action at the Kapa‘a inline skating facility.
