Francisco B. Jacinto
Francisco B. Jacinto, of Koloa, died Nov. 26, 2007, at his home at the age of 87.
Born Aug. 18, 1920, in the Philippines, he was a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife Emilia Jacinto; daughters Charito (Ramon) Arrigo, Emelda (James) Bennett, Ruby Colleran, and Mercedes (Robert) Davenport; sons Fernandico (Isidra) Jacinto, Rafael Jacinto, Julius (Melda) Jacinto; sisters Enriqueta Nicolas and Corazon Jacinto; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the famly from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa, where memorial services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Koloa Public Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Marian Simao Baptiste
Marian Simao Baptiste, of Kalaheo, died Nov. 28, 2007, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 77.
Born Oct. 16, 1930, in ‘Ele‘ele, she was a farm worker.
Preceded in death by her husband Richard Baptiste and daughter Darlene Ruiz, she is survived by sons Richard (Roxann) Baptiste, Rodney (Jorae) Baptiste, and Anthony Baptiste; brother Bernard (Mary Jane) Simao; sisters Beatrice Silva, Dorothy Costa, Bernice Perreira and Margaret Reis; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo, where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m by Father Nap. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Federico Afaga Macadangdang Sr.
Federico Afaga Macadangdang Sr., of Hanama‘ulu, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Nov. 29, 2007, at the age of 84.
He was born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Dec. 14, 1922, and retired as a school teacher in the Philippines after 30 years.
He is survived by his wife Damiana; children Lerma (Honorato) DelaCruz of the Philippines, Rolando (Linda) Macadangdang of the Philippines, Edna (Andrew) Georghiades of Greece, Priscilla (Rudy) Soriano of the Philippines, Emmanuel (Susan) Macadangdang of Honolulu, Lilybeth (Nico) DelaCruz of the Philippines, Federico (Joanna) Macadangdang Jr. of Kaua‘i, Helen (Willy) Galiza of Kaua‘i; brother Domingo Macadangdang of the Philippines; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, at The Salvation Army on Hardy Street with visitation from 6 p.m. and services celebrated at 8 p.m. Burial will take place in the Philippines in Bacarra Cemetery.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Macadangdang family with arrangements.

Skye Anuenue Kamalei‘ohu Tyler-Soto, of ‘Ele‘ele died on Nov. 8, 2007, at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children. Born Nov. 7, 2007, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital, she is survived by her dad Jimmy “Maki” Tyler, mother DeLissa Soto of ‘Ele‘ele; grandparents Jeff and Zoe Tyler of Honolulu, Renee Ayau- Tyler and the late Buzzy Kaohi of Waimea, Dennis and Genie Soto of ‘Ele‘ele. great-grandparents Alva and Shirley Andrews of Honolulu, Don and Nancy Tyler of Reno, Nev., Mildred Ayau of Honolulu, Virgie Parbo of ‘Ele‘ele, Aletha Kaohi of Waimea and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. A memorial service was held on Dec. 1, at UCC Waineke Cabin near Koke’e State Park. Arrangements were handled by Borthwick Honolulu and Kauai Mortuary.

Anna Henrietta Palea, of Kekaha, died at Garden Isle Healthcare on Dec. 1, 2007, at the age of 90.
Born in Kekaha on May 14, 1917, she is survived by daughters Hildred Kamaka of Kekaha and Rhonda (Howard) Vinhasa of Ewa Beach, O‘ahu; 22 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one great-great-grandchild; brother Eric Nordmeier of ‘Ele‘ele; sister Christine Chong of O‘ahu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Services pending.

Tsuruko “Sue” Yoshioka
Tsuruko “Sue” Yoshioka, of Kapa‘a, died at Wilcox Hospital on Nov. 30, 2007, at the age of 80.
Born in Lihu‘e, on June 9, 1927, she was a retired waitress with Fairway Restaurant and Coco Palms Hotel.
She is preceded in death by her husband Tsutomu Yoshioka; sisters Chieko Miyasaki and Fujie Kang. She is survived by four daughters, Pearl (Toshinori) Mukai of Hiroshima, Japan, Jo-Ann Yoshioka of Kapa‘a, Bernice Yoshioka of Kapa‘a and Melody (Alvin) Fukuyama of Mililani, O‘ahu; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec, 8, at the Kapaa Jodo Mission; service officiated by Rev. Akiya will begin at 4 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and that flowers be omitted.

John Simao
John Simao, of Hanapepe,died Nov. 23, 2007, at his home in Hanapepe at the age of 86.
Born on Aug. 8, 1921, in Makaweli, he served in the Navy in Guam for two years. He was employed by the tourist industry for 45 years with Duarte U-drive Company as assistant manager. He also worked for Hawaiian Discovery, then retired with Grayline Kaua‘i.
He is preceded in death by his late wife Eva (Perreira) Simao and survived by his wife Norma Simao of Hanapepe; children Gary Simao of Lihu‘e, Judy (Chris) Earl of Virginia, Randall (Edwina) Simao and Jayne (Douglas) Domen of Kapa‘a; grandchildren Brooke, Cullen and Nathaniel (Nat), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Rodney Moki Basconcillo
Rodney Moki Basconcillo aka Moki o Kaua‘i, of Anahola, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Nov. 28, 2007, at the age of 59.
Born Dec. 14, 1947, he served in the U.S. Navy after graduating from Kapa‘a High School in 1965. He attended various colleges and acquired numerous degrees from hotel management to engineering. After living in L.A. for many years as an engineer, he decided to return to Kaua‘i to fulfill his passion of becoming a full-time artist. He is fondly remembered being seen almost daily doing what he loved best up at Opaeka‘a Falls, painting and sharing his aloha with visitors and friends.
Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Marcela Basconcillo, he is survived by his wife Wanda Ammocha Basconcillo, daughter Maile Ann Gatti (Tom) of O‘ahu; grandsons Dustin and James, granddaughter Elizabeth, sisters Priscilla (Newman) Naihe and Teri (Crockett) Kahaunaele, both of Anahola, brothers Joey Makepa of Anahola and Jody (Sarah) Basconcilllo of Phoenix, Ariz.; numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9 at Lydgate Park with visitation at 2 p.m. and a service celebrated at 3 p.m. Aloha or casual attire is suggested.
