LIHU‘E — State transportation officials are reminding Kaua‘i motorists that Wainiha Bridge No. 3 will be completely closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. today and tomorrow.
Contractors will perform preparation work for the upcoming replacement of the bridge during those hours.
The bridge is located on Kuhio Highway between Ha‘ena and Hanalei.
Flappers and electronic messageboards will be positioned on the north and south ends of the one-lane bridge to stop traffic in both directions on both nights.
No vehicles will be allowed to cross but people on foot may be escorted across by the contractor on a case by case basis, a spokesperson for the state Department of Transportation said.
Motorists are asked to adjust their commute schedules accordingly to minimize any potential effects of this closure.
Roadwork will be performed weather-permitting.
