Last week when panelist David Bice and I were going over our picks, I kind of giggled that he picked Minnesota over San Diego. But he was right and not only did the Vikings crush the Chargers, rookie running back Adrian Peterson rushed for a new single-game NFL record of 296 yards.
(Whoever has him on their fantasy team lucked out.)
It was like Peterson was saying “Take that!” to LaDanian Tomlinson. Wasn’t LT supposed to be No. 1?
But Dickie Chang was the winner of last week’s Frenzy for the panelists. Chang, who went 9-4, was the only one of us who picked Kapa‘a High School to win in the high school category. And what a win that was. It was nice to see the Warriors win on homecoming night.
I finished in second place with 8-5. Bice and Ron Wiley tied with 7-6.
Felipe Bigno of ‘Ele‘ele must be a football-predicting expert because he beat the panel for the third time this season.
Seven fans who submitted ballots all tied at 10-3. In that case, the winner is determined by the fan who closely predicted the score. The field was narrowed to two people who were two away from the actual score. It came down to a draw and Bigno came out on top. What are the odds?
Joining us on the panel this week is Leah Lei Agustin of Lihu‘e.
Prep football will return next week when Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation champs Kaua‘i High School play the loser of the Roose-velt and Kaimuki high school football teams in Round 1 of the Division II state championships.
