Attend a special workshop to learn how you can safely and legally operate your vessel during whale season today.
As many as 10,000 humpback whales are in Hawaiian waters every year from November through May.
These acrobatic, 45-ton marine mammals delight wildlife enthusiasts, but can pose safety hazards for boaters and other ocean users. Vessel-whale collisions occur every year in Hawai‘i and are a serious risk to boaters and whales.
There is new, detailed information to share this year, so even if you’ve attended previous workshops, attendance is recommended.
Today’s boater workshops will be in Waimea from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the West Kaua‘i Visitor and Technology Center Conference Room, 99-5565 Kaumualii Hwy; and in Lihu‘e from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the DOT, Harbors Division Conference Room, 3242 Waapa Road.
