HONOLULU — Top-ranked Hawaii Baptist Academy dropped Waimea High School in two games, 25-14 and 25-10, in the New City Nissan/HHSAA Division II State Volleyball Championships last night at Radford High School.
HBA (15-4) has snapped Waimea’s winning streak which started at the beginning of Round 2 of Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation play.
Waimea (8-3) has now been sent to the consolation round for the second year in a row. The Menehune will play Farrington High School (12-5) at 6 p.m. tonight at Radford, where the highest the Menehune can finish is fifth place.
Last year, they finished in third.
In other Division II play, Hawaii Preparatory Academy beat Honoka‘a High School 25-17 and 25-19; University High School beat McKinley High School 25-19 and 25-16; Moloka‘i High School beat Farrington 25-21, 23-25 and 25-16; No. 2 Seabury Hall beat Castle High School 18-25, 25-21 and 25-16; No. 3 Hilo High School beat Word of Life 25-21, 27-25.
