Kaua‘i High School bowling teams swept the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation bowling titles, Saturday.
But the title did not come without strong opposition as the Red Raider ladies went to a rolloff with the Menehune, and the Kaua‘i boys emerged with the title despite Kapa‘a taking the match with two first place finishes and a second place finish, Saturday at the Lihu‘e Bowling Center.
Kaua‘i High School’s Ross Shimabukuro said the girls match went into the rolloff after Kaua‘i and Waimea emerged with a 3-3 tie in points following six matches. Kaua‘i men, tallying after six matches, finished with 3.5 points over Kapa‘a’s 2.5 points.
“It was really exciting,” Shimabukuro said. “The rolloff went down to the final frame before Kaua‘i won 758-716 to claim the KIF girls title.”
