David Bice of FM97 is on a roll. He won last week again with a score of 8-5. Dickie Chang of “Wala‘au” and I went 7-6, while Ron Wiley of KQNG Radio was 6-7.
Col. Jerald Knudsen of Kalaheo, however was right on. Knudsen was 12-1 to win $50 cash.
Joining us this week on the panel is dance instructor Michelle Rozon. Not taking any chances, Rozon submitted nearly 15 ballots. Rozon won a $25 certificate for the Polynesia Cafe.
This week, Bice had an interesting way of picking his team for the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation match up between Waimea High School and Kaua‘i High School. It is afterall, Waimea’s homecoming and the Menehune have to win this if they want to keep the race for the KIF championship on.
Bice opened it up to the listeners in the morning and had the listeners vote for which team he should pick. Bice said that after an hour of phone calls, he had equal votes and would take one more caller as the deciding vote. And who would’ve guessed, it was Darla Abbatiello, Jordon Dizon. For those who have been living under a radar, Dizon is a Waimea graduate who plays for the University of Colorado and is currently leading the nation in tackles. Naturally, she chose Waimea.
Good call, Bice.
Of course it is the University of Hawai‘i’s homecoming as well. The Warriors take on winless New Mexico State at Aloha Stadium. Watch it closely. Hawai‘i just might be the only undefeated team left in college football.
Overall, for the panel, Bice is leading at 60-31. I’m second place at 56-35. Wiley trails at 54-37 and Chang rounds out the pack at 51-40.
