The Waimea High School girls and the Kaua‘i High School boys will be representing the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation at states today.
Joining the Menehune girls team will be one sharpshooter from the Kapa‘a Warriors, Britney Inanod, and one from Island School, Michelle Woltmon. The pair will be shooting individually.
Syanne Sagawa, Beverly Grande, Mershelle Rivera and Ceci Sun make up the Menehune girls team coached by Victor Aguilar.
The Menehune team and Inanod left Kaua‘i yesterday afternoon along with the two boys individualists, Kevin Aguilar and Peter Joyce.
Kaua‘i coach Douglas Nobriga and the Kaua‘i High School boys team are scheduled to leave this morning for the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Civilian Marksmanship Program Air Riflery 2007 State Championships.
The Red Raider boys team include Shaun Koide, Jason Cabot, a returning state marksman from 2006, Kelan Adachi, another returning state sharpshooter, and Elliot Yamamoto.
Cabot finished 18th overall during the 2006 state tournament with a 507, tying with Nicholas Allen of Mid Pacific and Jordan Martino of Campbell. Adachi finished with a 455.
Cabot and Adachi were part of last year’s KIF championship team which finished 5th at the state competition with an 1,881-point total.
This will be the first time competing at the state tournament for this year’s KIF girls team.
That tournament is scheduled to take place at the Neal Blaisdell Center in Honolulu today.
