David Allio is back from Las Vegas and was able to get in the last race of the Gene Wells Memorial Series before heading back to more racing in Las Vegas, and Jim Saylor missed the boat by less than two minutes, but you’ll have to read about that in Sunday’s “Business” section.
Congratulations to Earl Nishiguchi is who an “unofficial” winner in an Olympus photo contest. Earl knows about it, but said it hasn’t been official, yet. In the meantime, there’re a lot of Olympus cameras showing up around … Buddy Lizama got a good deal on one during a cruise and had it online during the recent Pop Warner cheer competition. Of course, since Earl was camera shy, it was a good time to visit Nikki Lucidarme who came to see Dennis Chun on how to write ‘Happy Birthday’ in Hawaiian. Billy Gibson said Tuesdays are always Chinese, and that sweet-sour pork sure smelled good.
And if you show up around lunch, you’ll always find chefs Mark Oyama and Martina Hilldorfer making sure everybody’s enjoying the food. Alton Amimoto even got Sherry to buy him lunch, and Pat Watase was checking out the specials, too.
At the bookstore, Jolynne Uyesono has the place all decked out for Halloween because she said the kids come early.
