Hats off to pastor Mary Lindquist and her Episcopal Church on West Kaua‘i ‘ohana on another great breakfast at ‘Ele‘ele School.
Tiffany Lum was there almost through the whole event. She said KIF bowling is coming down to the wire with Waimea needing a win Saturday for the title. Mom Paulette Lum was serving on the “to go” side of the line, and this year, where was Jack Wilhelm and all those bikers?
Nonetheless, there were a lot of diners, and for those who missed out, Mary still has some “Our Daily Bread” cookbooks for sale. It has a lot of the old style recipes.
Jordan Sato (he’s a Waimea bowler, too) was helping in the serving line as was Waimea running coach Rod Martin and Dr. Ding (aka Ross Barker).
Coach Bobo Ishikawa had his family on hand before heading to the North Vidinha fields for KSA soccer (even got to see chief John Blaylock at soccer).
Kaua‘i coach Richard Matsumoto came to check out Olympic Silver Medalist Bryan Clay (Keith Burgess was helping at that event) and it was nice to see all those Kaua‘i athletes work out with the Olympian.
Meanwhile, this Saturday is Janice Bond’s Keiki Storybook Festival (she’s bummed because someone cockroached their banners) with Mark Jeffers and a bunch of celebrity readers in Hanapepe.
Mark said after that event comes the Hawaiian Church’s laulau sale. That is a real old-style event with the smell of laulau coming out of the 55-gallon drums making everyone’s saliva going.
