Kaua’i Pediatrician, Dr. Carolan, will be reading a newly released version of his children’s book “Where Are My Slippers, A Book of Colors,” now with an audio CD. The CD features Keli’i Kaneali’i, formerly of the musical group “Hapa.” In addition to his narration, the audio CD includes Kaneali’i singing Edith Kanaka’ole’s Hawaiian “Color’s Song”, with members of the Kapa’a Middle School Choir.
The reading and performance will take place at Borders Books & Music in Lihu’e on Saturday noon.
“Where Are My Slippers, A Book of Colors” takes place at the Honolulu Zoo, and chronicles the search for a pair of lost rubber slippers. While looking for the lost pair of blue slippers, children are entertained while learning their colors as they are presented with different colored animals wearing rubber slippers.
“Where Are My Slippers” was an “IPPY” (Independent Publishers Award) Finalist in 2006. It was the only book from Hawai’i to be selected for the award. Over 3000 entries were submitted from independent publishers in the US and Canada.
Dr. Carolan’s children’s book “Goodnight Hawaiian Moon” was named a Moonbeam Children’s Book Award Finalist. It is a semifinalist in the category of “Picture Book – Preschool.”
