The Executive Board of the Kapa‘a Pop Warner Association announced that three of their participants were recognized for their scholastic achievements for the 2006-2007 season.
These participants received a 96 percent or better grade point average while combining Pop Warner sports and scholastics. Honorees were Jason Iloreta and Trevor McCracken from tackle football. Oriana Huff was recognized from the cheerleading squad. It’s been 10 years since any member of Kapa‘a’s organization was recognized as a scholar.
Both Iloreta and Huff traveled to Anaheim, Calif., in latew May to be officially honored and recognized at the Wescon Little Scholars Banquet. They were also recognized at the Pop Warner Jamboree last weekend.
They were recognized as scholars out of the thousand participants of the Wescon region. Iloreta and Huff were accompanied by their parents and Cassie Camara from the Kapa‘a Executive Board.
The Pop Warner association starts it season tomorrow. The Lihu‘e Junior PWs face off against Koloa at 9 a.m. The Lihu‘e and Koloa Midgets follow at 11 a.m.
Kapa‘a’s teams take the afternoon games against Hanapepe starting at 1 p.m.
