Join Pastor Doug Kozub and New Hope Lihu‘e Church for a series of talks in hopes of improving finances and familial relationships, states a press release. Attend “The Road To Financial Freedom” on Sunday at their “kick-off” service for this eight-week series.
“This is a way to learn how to live within your means,” said Kozub. “I don’t want to scare anyone off, but it also includes a computer spreadsheet so they can learn basic accounting.”
Kozub said, “You really can’t manage your finances without some basic tools on accounting and then there are also some biblical principles applied.”
The pastor emphasized the importance of “meditating on your needs before making a big purchase.”
“People can lean self control,” said Kozub. “You can learn to be content with what you have.”
The series hopes to allow participants to gain some control over their finances, as well as offer peaceful resolution to existing debt. The classes are free. The books and DVD are being donated as well.
While the 9 a.m. service at Wilcox Elementary cafeteria is the inaugural class, there will be as many as eight locations for the “Road to Financial Freedom” series all over the island.
After the initial class this Sunday, the remaining seven classes will meet at 6:30 p.m. There will be a women-only class on Saturday mornings. For more information and locations of the meeting groups, call New Hope Lihu‘e Church program director, Leah Ragsac at 652-8074.
“This will be a good solid introduction to basic accounting and some Biblical principles. Biblical Principles means, no debt,” said Kozub. “You follow these principles and you’ll be 100 percent better.”
After service this Sunday join in on a curry competition and raffle.
