Stacy Lee (Kapa‘a High School) and Rachel Hamamura (Kaua‘i High School) leave this week for Mori yama, Japan, through the Rotary Club of Kaua‘i Youth Exchange Program. Stacy will be attending Moriyama High School and Rachel will be attending Ritsumeikan High School.
Kapa‘a United Church of Christ welcomes back returning Rotary exchange student Randy Umetsu (Waimea High School) who spent 10 months studying at Ritsumeikan.
The Hamamura family of Lihu‘e is hosting Cindy Yuxin Shou of Beijing, China, who is attending Kaua‘i High School (Rotary); and the Umetsu family of ‘Ele‘ele is hosting Miyu Adachi of Tamba, Japan, who is attending Waimea High School (International Hospitality Center).
According to a press release, Rotary Club of Kaua‘i has been doing its student exchange program with the city of Moriyama for 25 years.
Marc Imamura of the Rotary Club of Kaua‘i said he was one of the first and now it’s been “25 years and 100 students.”
