One hundred members of the award-winning Kyoto Tachibana High School Brass & Marching Band from Kyoto, Japan are returning to Kauai for a goodwill performance tour Aug. 15 to 19.
The band will be hosted by Kauai High School Band students, their families and its band director, Darryl Miyasato.
Under the direction of music director, Hiroyuki Tanaka, Kyoto Tachibana band has won numerous awards in high school competitions, and is considered one of the best marching band in western Japan. The band has performed at the famed Rose Bow Parade in Pasadena, California.
While on Kauai, the band will perform at a special fundraising concert on August 16 at Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall to benefit Kauai High School Band.
The concert is made possible with support and cooperation from Mayor Bryan Baptiste; Kauai Visitors Bureau; Governor’s Kauai Liaison office; and Aloha Beach Resort Hotel in Wailua.
