A long-awaited Superferry viewing on Kaua‘i is finally here.
Scheduled for Aug. 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., a community preview of the Alakai will take place at the Nawiliwili Ferry Terminal at Pier 2.
Guests will be invited to tour the ship’s passenger decks and check out its amenities before service officially begins.
While a date for the first official voyage has yet to be set, Superferry officials are still citing a date “later this summer.”
All attendees must pre-register for the event online at www.hawaiisuperferry.com with the names of all persons in their party. Reservations will not be accepted via e-mail or phone, and name changes and additions will not be permitted the day-of.
High demand for a similar event last month on O‘ahu necessitated an encore viewing, which also had a strong turnout.
A shuttle will provide transportation to the ferry from the Kaua‘i Veterans Center parking lot on Kapule Highway every 15 minutes from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. No parking will be available at Pier 2 of the Nawiliwili Ferry Terminal, except for handicapped vehicles.
Guests must be listed on the security manifest, and adults 18 and older must show a government-issued picture ID. Attendees under age 18 without ID must be accompanied by an adult.
A preview on Maui will take place August 18, and a date for an event on the Big Island has yet to be announced.
