Rick Hurst won the top spot in the Vintage Class division in Sunday’s Kaua‘i Motocross Riders Association race at the Wailua track.
The Vintage Class is a new addition for the association. All the bikes used in the races are from the 1960s and 1970s.
Kimo Andrade, Barry Simmons and Russell Andrade also participated in this new class and came in second through fourth respectively.
In the Mini A division, Gavyn Gonsalves took the first-place finish and Madison Leanio finished second. Bryson Yoro finished third.
The association is now preparing for its Annual Labor Day races which will be held on Sept. 1 and 2. While last Sunday’s race included one person from O‘ahu and two from the Big Island, the Labor Day races are expected to attract many local and Neighbor Island racers.
On Saturday, Sept. 1, the association will host a motocross race at the Wailua Motocross Track and a Hare ‘n’ Hound trail race on Kalepa mountain.
The Sunday race will be motocross at the Wailua track.
Participants will have a meeting for the trail racers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31 at the Wailua track.
The Wailua motocross track will be closed after this weekend in preparation for the races.
