Kaua‘i’s Dylan Goodale hopped on a plane yesterday and Capbreton, France, is his final destination.
Goodale will compete in Quiksilver’s global surfing competition, King of the Groms, from July 31 to Aug. 5, in France. He earned the spot by winning the KOG qualifier at Huntington Beach, Calif. There he set a competition record of 7 skins. Goodale surfed the 2- to 3-foot waves, through 13 heats, to register consistently high scores.
The winner of the KOG is guaranteed a spot in the Quik-silver Pro in France and the Quiksilver Pro at Gold Coast.
Carissa Moore of O‘ahu’s South Shore will also be in France for the KOG. She earned her spot by winning the competition at Kewalo Basin.
Goodale and Moore are featured in a special KOG feature where they talk about the competition.
